The SPA would like to inform all IM and area reps that the date of IM 5 has changed to 15th and 16th of November as a consequence of Rileys sponsorship of the Scottish Singles. The venue for IM 5 remains Pennies Bar in Falkirk and the SPA would like to thank Davy Anderson for allowing us to change the date.
The Scottish Singles will now be held on the 13th and 14th of December at a Rileys Club as yet to be confirmed.
The Scottish Pool Association has teamed up with Rileys, the UK’s leading Pool and Snooker club operator.
This exciting new partnership will bring SPA members a package of special benefits. Amongst these will be the opportunity to join a Rileys club free of charge. In addition, on joining, SPA members will be able to take advantage of a 25% discount on all table play.
On behalf of the SPA, Ross McInnes said “I’m delighted we’ve created this partnership. It represents a major investment in Scottish pool. The benefits to our members will be tremendous and most importantly, long-term”.
This partnership comes as a result of plans made by Rileys to develop pool in Scotland. These plans include the introduction of many new ‘traditional’ pool tables in the sixteen Scottish Rileys clubs. The first phase of this development is already complete with over twenty tables installed in clubs in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Penicuik. But there’s much more !
On Sunday the 4th of May Cue Here,in Airdire,held a Superleague B team and invitational challenge tournament. The entry consisted of 10 teams which were mostly B teams and the criteria for entry was that no player that played at the recent Super 11's at Pettycur Bay could enter.The Teams were split into two groups of 5 with all the teams playing each other in a mini league format.
We have reached the business end of the season where the titles are decided and as part of this we have recently announced that ALL semi finals and finals (with the exception of the Rosebowl) will be played in the Rileys club which is located in Battlefield on the Southside of the City. The club name is Churchills and for anyone that frequents the 9 ball arena they will already be familiar with this venue. The dates and teams are................
AT the recent meeting it was announced that for the second year the 2nd division cup would be run. All 2nd division teams were asked if would like to take part and all agreed. All matches will be played in the Archways over four dates. The draw is.....................
The names and entry fees for the Scottish Singles must be in over the next two meetings as the deadline for the names and entries to be handed into the Scottish Pool Association is the 3rd of May. So please note the absolute deadline for any entries will be the April meeting. Entry fee is still £5.00 per player, this being one of the biggest leagues in Scotland had a massive entry of just over 80 last year lets see if we can improve on this number. After all it was our very own Allan 'Aldo' MacLeod that was the runner up in 2007.
At the recent league meeting the draw was carried out for the Rosebowl. Once again the venues sponsoring this event are the Albion Social Club and the Roadhouse. Qualifiers will be held over three nights in each venue. Here is the draw.......................

At the recent meeting the draws for the following three cups were carried out (in the case of the KK and League cup it was just deciding the home team) The last 16 of the Ross Fulton Memorial cup was drawn and the dates were given otu for all three competitions. However please note that due to the World Championships being on the first week in April the league would not be able to run the league cup as only one tie would be able to be played so with this in mind the date for the leageu cup has been put back and a league match shall be played that week instead.
