League singles

LeagueThe opening ties threw up three matches where teammates were playing against each other.
First round draw

D. Markie v B. Rodgers
A. Bennison v J.J Kirkpatrick
C. Traynor v bye
A. Riley v bye
B. Thomson v T. McWhirter
A. Morrison v bye
A. Rhattigan v bye
S. Donnachie v C. Campbell

The first match saw team mates from Rileyscare face each other and Brian 'doy' Rodgers beat big Davie 3-0
Young Anthony 'benny' Bennison was narrowly beaten 3-2 by the more experienced JJ Kirkpatrick in a marathon.
Barry Thomson dispatched of last years runner up,Thomas 'teemas' Mcwhirter by 3 frames to 1, this result meant that both of last seasons finalists werenow out of the torunament.
Sean Donnachie beat former champion Colin Campbell with a convincing 3-0 scoreline.
The line up for the quarter finals was now looking like this

B. Rodgers v JJ Kirkpatrick
C. Traynor v A. Riley
B. Thomson v A. Morrison
S. Donnachie v A. Rhattigan

The quarter finals saw one of the easiest mistakes anyone could make and yet probably meant the player had a sleepless night and it happened in Sean' match against Andy Rhattigan.
Andy was 2-1 up on Sean with two shots and only the black and one red left both were in an open position but Andy decided to make the black a little easier and knocked it over a bit and then for some reason thought he was on the yellows and lined up Sean's last yellow and potted it, match all square. Sean went onto win the deciding frame and go through to the semi finals with a 3-2 victory.
Anton cruised past Charlie wiuth a 3-0 victory and Antz had not arrived yet so Barry went through with a walk over. The final match once again went to the wire and this time it was Doy that edged out JJ with a 3-2 victory.
The semi finals were both contrasting matches.
Sean 4-1 Barry
Barry looked as if he was in the mood to go all the way as he took away a nice finish in the first frame. The second frame saw Barry in control of the table as he laid a snooker, however Sean fluked a pot out of the snooker and duly cleared the table. Sean then broke and dished the next frame and dished of Barry's break in the following frame. In what was the final frame Sean once again broke and dished.

Brian 4-3 Anton

This looked, on paper, as if it would be a potting festival with two very attacking players facing each other. Could Anton make it an all Masters final or could Doy stop him?
However maybe the occassion got to both players as Both missed chances they would normally take away. The first frame saw Anton miss a reasonably straight pot to let Doy in and then he missed the black and left i hanging for Anton to go 1-0 up. The second frame was the similar with missed chances and this time Doy nicked it 1-1.
Anton again edged in front 2-1 then Doy squared it again and all through the frames were simple errors by both players.Doy anaged to gain the upper hand by taking a 3-2 advantage and had a good chance of the finish but missed his last ball and after a few safety shots by Anton he took away the finish to tie the match at 3 all.
Doy finally settled a bit and took away a nice finish, with a little rub for position on the black, to wn the match.

Finalists

Sean Donachie - Masters v Brian 'Doy' Rodgers - Rileyscare
