Details of the upcoming Grassroots event are as follows:-
The SPA will sponsor the Scottish Grassroots Championship by adding £500 to the entry fees recieved...The event will be pro rata ( the more players who enter from your league the more players you will get in the grand final of 128) entry fee is £5 per player,entries close at the SPA meeting on Sunday 3rd May

Conditions of entry:
The following can not enter:Any player who has been an A International,any player who has been a B international or pro in the last 5 years,any player who is in the top 32 of IM rankings

Further information and entry forms will be available at the next league meeting and entries will be taken through the league.

There are plans for two further events to cover the Profwessionals A and B internationalsists but these are at the preliminary stages as the qualification criteria needs to be finalised. At the time of this article the proposals for these events are:-
event 2 for B internationals, A internationals of 5 years plus (not played A team status for more than 5 years) and top 16-32 in IM
event 3 Professionals, A internationals (upto the last 5 years) top 16 in IM
The above criteria has NOT yet been agreed between the SPA and the tournamnets committee so they may change.
Entry is expected to be £10 for both of these events.
